Do some months have more than one birthstone?
Yes. Months like June, August, October, November and December have more than one recognised stone, which gives you a choice. We have noted the alternatives in the chart above.
What is the difference between a birthstone and a star sign stone?
A birthstone is tied to your calendar month, while zodiac stones are tied to your star sign, which spans parts of two months. Since a month covers two signs, the two systems overlap but are not identical.
Are birthstones just for jewellery?
Mostly they are worn as jewellery and given as gifts, but many people also keep their birthstone simply for its meaning and the qualities it is believed to carry.
